Comprehensive Approach in Action
Explore the intricacies of the comprehensive approach
The development of a fragile state demands a concordant effort from a multitude of stakeholders, who are involved in intervention, within the country. The complexity of the environment challenges actors on areas ranging from private sector development to security, and from diplomacy to humanitarian assistance. Good relations and possible collaboration between these actors is key for development. After all, the whole is greater than the sum of it parts.
This workshop allows participants from Dutch organizations to explore opportunities for more effective joint engagement in a fragile states. The workshop addresses key aspects of a comprehensive approach, including situational awareness, mutual awareness, adaptivity, andalignment (coordination and cooperation). These aspects will be tackled from a conflict sensitive perspective. Through various scenario exercises, participants will gain practical insight and experience regarding more effective planning and implementation of a comprehensive approach.
This workshop has been developed by Pax Ludens in collaboration with HCSS, TNO and Cordaid. It's part of the Millennium Project "More than the Sum of its Parts" (MDDSDD), a three year endeavour that seeks to operationalise a comprehensive approach to interventions in fragile states, and to enhance our understanding of best and worst practices within the shared environment.
