Martijn is responsible for the development of Pax Ludens projects and programs focusing on sustainable development and environmental security. He studied astrophysics at Leiden University (MSc) and has worked in management consulting (Accenture) before joining the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Currently, he is a senior science and technology policy advisor involved in developing and coordinating innovation programs and public private partnerships for the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation in The Hague. Specific areas of expertise are innovation system analyses, governance and monitoring, organizational learning and integrated sustainability concepts, international cooperation in science and technology as well as the organization of events and workshops specifically with respect to ‘clean tech’. He is also an active moderator.
His personal interest for sustainability started during his study and as a volunteer for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. He is motivated by the belief that a sustainable future depends on both sustainable development and environmental security. That real changes and breakthrough innovations are created through personal experience and multidisciplinary (public private) cooperation.
